Our Approach
A Holistic Way of Life
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a procedure using hair-thin sterile needles inserted into points throughout the body to relieve pain and treat internal disease. These acupuncture points exist on meridians or pathways in which Qi flows. Qi is known as the life-force, life-energy or vitality in the body. Disharmony and imbalance in the flow of Qi throughout the body is responsible for disease in all levels of mind/body/spirit. Acupuncture points are chosen according to the traditional system of pattern diagnosis and by observation of the tongue and pulse.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Focused on facial rejuvenation, this specialized treatment is a healthy alternative to many of the current chemical approaches offered today. Needles are inserted at trouble areas, such as crows-feet, frown lines, discolorations, and scars on the face, as well as supportive points on the body for a whole body approach.
Best results seen with 2 treatments per week for 5 weeks. Followed by maintenance as needed.
Herbal Medicine
The science of Chinese herbal formulas has thousands of years of empirical evidence. The formulas are specifically designed energetic and phyto-pharmacologic complexes to treat all aliments in the body/mind/spirit. A typical formula consists of 2 to 12 separate herbs used in traditional combinations according to ancient books, such as the Shan Hun Lun.
Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements
Evidence based combinations of herbs, nutrients, vitamins and minerals are used to restore physiologic function. These combinations are formulated to support proper functioning of the organ system out of balance or stressed at the given time. Diet comes first, yet it is challenging for even the most nutritionally conscious among us to get all the nutrients we need through diet. The recommended dietary allowances (RDA) do not take individual differences into account. Individual needs may vary given genetic susceptibility, lifestyle factors and environmental exposures.
Lifestyle & Dietary Counseling
Food is our first medicine. Maintaining optimal nutrition is paramount for reversing disease processes and disease prevention. Patient's diets will be analyzed to promote nourishment of the whole body. Discovering hidden food sensitivities that may be compromising health showing as low grade symptoms is paramount. Foods are also therapeutic and may be prescribed alongside other treatments such as diet recommendations and movement and breathing exercises designed specifically for patients.
